STEP 2 - Revised Draft for Short Screenplay

Steven Peros

Due Dec 9, 2023, 2:59 PM

Utilizing the workshop feedback, use Final Draft software to revise your screenplay to a Second Draft.  Turn in your assignment in Final Draft format (not PDF).

After completing this assignment, continue to STEP 3.

REFLECTION:

This idea came to me while I was serving my Military service in Singapore. I was 23 years old at the time. I remembered every weekend when I was off duty, I would go clubbing with my friends. So, this became my inspiration for this short comedy horror film. For this assignment, I created a script for my short film and learned in the process that some scenes does not work and that the whole film should reinforced the title of the film. Steve thought me the importance of maintaining our original goal which in this case is a Horror Comedy and which means I need to include both the aspect of Horror and Comedy within the script. After making the necessary changes, I made a storyboard for Rick and Jen's class and further suggestions came from Rick to further improve the comedic element of the story.

STEP #3 - PEER FEEDBACK

Jen Prince & Rick Greenwood

Directing

Due Apr 17, 1:59 PM

Please provide a link to your peers for viewing your film's cut-in-progress and comment on each other's work.

Consider the following questions in your response and be considerate and constructive in your responses.

1) In a sentence or two, describe the story you saw.  (not the script you read - what did you actually see on screen?)
2) Are there any moments that "bump" for you as a viewer - either the editing, sound, performance, or story logic?
3) What does the filmmaker do particularly well in this film?
4) How is the pacing? Any moments that slow the pacing or need to be slowed down?
5) What, if anything, was confusing or might be confusing to an audience?
6) For you, what was the moment of greatest intensity?
7) Anything else you'd like to comment on? Please keep your suggestions to things that you think would strengthen the film that the filmmaker seems to be trying to make - or acknowledge if you have a thought that might not be aligned with their intentions.

REFLECTION:

This is the very first time that I had to work with a crew to make a short film and in this experience, I learned the importance of proper pre-production planning as well as organizing the shooting schedule properly with ample of time for multiple takes. As I worked on the post production, I find myself lacking of extra footage to tweak some of my initial ideas that I felt did not work out as I had hoped it would. But regardless of the result, I am extremely happy with the experience as I felt I had learned alot from this assignment.
