REFLECTION:
My youngest son was born at the height of the pandemic. My wife and I were so worried about our children's health that we took extreme precautions to make sure that they were safe and healthy. Throughout the past few years, it was difficult to avoid getting infected with covid19 due to our interactions with our extended family. When I was infected with the virus, my wife had to take care of the kids by herself while I isolated myself in a room for two weeks. During my wife's infection, I had to sleep with the kids to make sure that they're taken care of. Despite our precautions, we could not avoid our kids getting infected by covid19. We stayed up all night just to make sure that our kids were not overly feverish or sick and thankfully they recovered. The pandemic inspired me with this story of a father who travels the country with his two boys to find a cure for his wife during a worldwide infection of an unknown deadly disease. I believe that this is an attractive project because it has a formula that works. The story and ambience are quite like the Walking Dead, Last of US, Supernatural. But unlike these TV shows, there are twists to the backstory as it progresses. The series will explore the relationship between the father and his two boys as well as exploring his relationship with his wife before the pandemic through flashbacks as the story progresses. What makes this an exciting series is that it may start off like most other dystopian near future world, the character carries a rich history that it began to unravel throughout the series. There will be a back story on how the character and his wife are involved with the virus that spreads, they are contracted by the government to create a mutagen to give the government power to control the lifespan of a population. The two boys will have a form of immunity to the virus due to the parents’ manipulation as well. There will be plenty of creative direction as the series progresses that we as creators can take. But I have a picture of how I wanted the entire series to end. I want the series to end with the father sacrificing himself to save his wife and with the two boys all grown up and torn by their father’s death as they embrace their mom. I want to create a bittersweet moment to end the entire series.
